Modified Davidson's Fixative (Hartmann's Fixative), Modified Davidson's Fixative is a superior alternative to Bouin's Fixative. Not only is it safer, but it also produces less shrinkage and superior overall morphologic detail compared to Bouin's when used to fix testes for routine histopathological examination. Modified Davidson's Fixative is used routinely for optimum fixation of eyes. It can support excellent staining of acrosomes with periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) reagent when staging of spermatogenesis is required. Modified Davidsons Fixative is also known for the visualization of lymph nodes in radical dissection specimens. Bismuth specifically stains Golgi beads and interchromatin granules after fixation with glutaraldehyde, whereas it stains nucleoli, basic protein, and biogenic amines after formaldehyde fixation.
